Overview

Sampurna connects rural artisans directly with buyers, ensuring fair prices for authentic handcrafted products while preserving Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage.

We believe every artisan deserves a fair chance to thrive. By cutting out middlemen and providing direct market access, Sampurna helps artisans earn 40-60% more for their handcrafted products.

Our micro-finance program provides the capital they need to grow, while our platform showcases their incredible craftsmanship to the world.

The Problem

Rural artisans in Bangladesh were losing 40-60% of their revenue to middlemen. They had no way to reach buyers directly, and their traditional crafts were at risk of being lost due to economic pressures.

The Solution

We built a direct-to-consumer marketplace that connects artisans with buyers worldwide, eliminating middlemen and providing fair prices. The platform includes artisan profiles, product storytelling, and integrated micro-finance.

Research & Discovery

We spent two weeks interviewing artisans in rural Bangladesh to understand their challenges.

Key Findings

  • Lack of direct market access
  • Complete dependence on middlemen
  • No digital presence or online skills
  • Limited access to working capital

Design Process

Created user personas for both artisans (sellers) and urban buyers. Designed a mobile-first experience since most artisans access the internet via smartphones.

Design Decision

We prioritized simplicity - every feature was tested with actual artisans who had limited tech experience.

Key Outcomes

  • Artisans now earn 40-60% more per product
  • Over 50 artisan families onboarded in pilot phase
  • Micro-finance program funded 15 small businesses
